Massage therapist in Bowburn, Durham

Hi, I’m Zoe, a skilled massage therapist and active listener who’s holding a safe space for you.
As a massage therapist, my focus is on empathic and nurturing relationship-based care. Sessions are about more than the massage and its physical benefits. They also create space for holistic holding and emotional comfort.
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into my home and my dedicated treatment room. There’s nothing clinical or impersonal here. It’s a homely space that’s been curated intentionally, so it feels cosy, supportive and safe.
Inside, I’ll hold a calming and restorative space for you. A space where you can take time for yourself, away from the stresses and pressures of everyday life.
It’s a place for contemplation with resources for personal reflection. Where you’re free to talk and I’ll provide the deep listening and understanding that will make you feel truly heard.
Combined with the massage, this holistic approach will help you release any emotions you’ve been holding, so you can feel your pain and tension melt away.
Had an absolutely fab massage today! A lovely calming, relaxing space, warm and cozy. Zoe made me feel really comfortable and secure. Her massage was amazing! I’ve been chilled all day since and feeling much looser.

Kind words from my clients
Here’s what my clients have had to say about their experience.
A massage therapist who focuses on you
I’m trained in various modalities, which are used to achieve different results. Whether that’s releasing tension, relieving pain or restoring movement and balance.
When I create your personalised care plan, I’ll bring together a range of techniques for your specific needs and wellbeing.
Sports massage
I offer restorative sports massage for performance and maintenance. This kind of massage focuses on your body’s mechanics and includes a variety of techniques, including deep tissue massage and passive stretches.
While sports massage can help people who play sports, it’s beneficial for all kinds of other things, too. That could be postural tightness from sitting at a desk, shoulder issues from carrying toddlers, or muscle pain from doing a repetitive or physically demanding job.
A sports massage may also include deep tissue massage, which goes deeper into the muscles to target more specific areas of tension or pain.
My sports massage can help:
- Relieve chronic muscle tension
- Reduce muscular pain and discomfort
- Reduce postural strain from sitting too long
- Improve your flexibility and range of motion
- Recovery after physical activity or exertion.

Swedish massage
Swedish massage is one of the most popular forms of therapeutic massage. It uses a range of different techniques to help release tension and promote relaxation.
Swedish massage is particularly good for:
- Calming your nervous system and helping you to relax
- Improving your flexibility and range of motion
- Reducing tightness in your neck, shoulders and back
- Improving your mood, sleep and overall wellbeing.

Rebozo massage
This type of massage uses a rebozo, which is a long woven shawl, to gently rock and support the body.
I offer rebozo massage during the prenatal, labour, and postnatal stages of pregnancy, but it can be useful for everyone.
Rebozo massage is good for fascia release. It can help to regulate your nervous system and rebalance your body, both during and after any sort of life transition.
The gentle, rhythmic movement can be soothing, easing discomfort and helping you cope with contractions during labour.

Closing the bones

Closing the bones is a traditional massage ritual that uses bodywork to bring deep healing. It provides a welcome space to rest and be held. And it allows emotions to be honoured and released.
The ritual can support you through all kinds of major life changes and transitions in your body. Like becoming a new parent, dealing with loss or grief, entering puberty or menopause, or recovering from trauma.
Closing the bones uses a combination of rebozo and hands-on massage to rebalance your body, release held emotions and bring a deep sense of healing.
The ceremony lasts about three hours, in your own home and I’ll invite you to prepare for it so it feels special and personalised. You can choose your favourite songs and scents to create a calming space. And a poem, reading, or words you’d like me to say.
What happens during closing the bones?
The ritual begins with a safe space for sharing, where you’ll feel held and listened to.
I’ll then softly rock your whole body, from your head all the way down to your toes. This is followed by a gentle massage in the abdominal/pelvic area.
When you’re feeling relaxed after the massage, I’ll wrap you in rebozos from head to toe. While you’re wrapped, I’ll bring in other elements, like your favourite meditations, or some gentle drumming around your body to help you relax even further.
The ceremony ends with a reading to bring you back into the room. I’ll then carefully unwrap you.
After the ceremony, we’ll share cacao and home-baked treat. And I’ll hold space for you to share whatever might have come up for you during the ritual.
Clients have described the experience as truly magical, intimate and healing. And said they emerged feeling renewed, powerful and full of bliss.
Experiencing the Closing of the Bones ceremony with Zoe felt like being wrapped in the most loving, nurturing hug, both physically and emotionally. From the moment the session began, Zoe held such a gentle, grounded space that allowed me to fully relax, release, and reconnect with myself in a way I didn’t realise I needed.
Pregnancy massage
As well as being a massage therapist, I’m an experienced doula, supporting women and birthing people through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Bodywork, which includes pregnancy massage, can be added to those care packages.
Prenatal massage
In pregnancy, your body goes through a lot of changes. Your growing bump will shift your centre of gravity and alter your posture. The extra weight will put stress on your muscles and joints. And fluid retention can cause swelling in your legs, ankles, feet and hands.
My prenatal massage can help to:
- Improve your flexibility, movement and sleep quality
- Reduce anxiety, improve your mood and help you relax
- Reduce muscle tension and tension headaches
- Relieve aches and pains due to postural changes
- Promote better circulation and lymphatic flow to reduce swelling.

Postnatal massage
After birth, postnatal massage can help your body to heal and recover more quickly. It can also help you adapt to caring for a newborn.
My postnatal massage can:
- Reduce stress and feelings of overwhelm
- Give you space to focus on your recovery
- Soothe tired muscles and improve wellbeing
- Ease neck, back and shoulder tension from carrying your baby.
